How nice it is when the sun is smiling in the sky when you rise in the morning! Usually Miriam is typing with the balcony door opened behind her.Wat heerlijk is het toch als je ‘s morgens opstaat dat het zonnetje je al tegemoet lacht! Meestal zit ik voor het open balkondeur te typen.

Today we will be doing some parkhopping. That means first to Animal Kingdom and then to MGM Studio’s. That way we can do the attractions we missed last week. It seems like we’re only doing Disney, but nothing could be further from the truth. We will definitely visit the Universal Studio’s and most likely also go to Seaworld. The Universal tickets are valid for 5 consecutive days and we wanted to do that nearer the end of our stay.Vandaag een beetje parkhoppen. Dat houdt in eerst naar Animal Kingdom en daarna naar MGM Studio’s. Kunnen we de attracties doen die we van de week gemist hebben. Het lijkt alsof we alleen Disney doen, maar niets is minder waar, hoor. We gaan zeker ook nog naar de Universal Studio’s en waarschijnlijk ook nog naar Seaworld. De Universal tickets zijn 5 dagen geldig en dat wilden we graag een beetje aan het einde van de vakantie doen.

First off we had a another great breakfast at the hotel’s breakfast buffet. Nancy was there again as well and she told us that starting Wednesday she’ll be off for a week. So Wednesday we’ll certainly be eating at the hotel! It was another Sunday, so there were Disney Characters again. This time we only saw Pluto and Goofy. I’m sure Minnie came by as well, but it too very long!Allereerst hebben we weer lekker gegeten van het ontbijtbuffet van het hotel. Nancy was er uiteraard ook weer en ze vertelde dat ze vanaf a.s. woensdag een weekje vrij is. Dus woensdag eten we op zeker in het hotel! Het was weer zondag dus er waren weer Disney Characters. We hebben deze keer alleen Pluto en Goofy gezien. Minnie zal vast ook wel langs geweest zijn, maar dat duurde best behoorlijk lang!

After filling our mugs again we took the car to Animal Kingdom. The shuttlebus would not have been practical as we are going to be hopping today!Na eerst onze mokken gevuld te hebben zijn we met de auto naar Animal Kingdom gereden. De shuttlebus zou niet handig geweest zijn omdat we gaan hoppen vandaag!
First we went to It’s Tough to be a Bug. This is a pretty intense 4D movie with the insects from It’s a bug’s life. The attraction is in a very nice location, as it is (partially) located under the Tree of Life. It is awe inspiring. A huge tree with a lot of animals carved from it’s trunk.Als eerste naar It’s Tough to be a Bug. Dit was een behoorlijk heftige 4D film met de insecten uit A Bug’s Life. Deze attractie zit op een hele mooie lokatie, namelijk gedeeltelijk onder The Tree of Life. Dat is zo ontzettend mooi. Een enorm grote boom waarin ontzettend veel dieren zitten verwerkt.
But to resume the movie: We were sprayed with ‘acid’ and lots of (fake) large spiders came down from the ceiling. Suddenly you’re stabbed in the back by a hornet. Miriam really jumped from fright! At the end the flees and cockroaches wanted to pass by. So all of a sudden there is some moving sensation under your backend. Miriam again jumped from fright! Maar verder met de film: We werden met ‘zuur’ bespoten en er kwamen allemaal grote (nep) spinnen naar beneden. Ineens kreeg je een prik in je rug van een horzel. Ik schrok me echt rot! Op het einde wilden de vlooien en de kakkerlakken er even langs. Voel je ineens een soort gewiebel onder je billen. Weer schrok ik me rot!

And then off to Dinoland, USA. There you find, what else, the Dinosaurs of the park. With nice and less entertaining rides (picture us in a children’s play area???) We went in to the Primeval Whirl. That is a rollercoaster where the cars also rotate around their Z-axis. They definitely could have made those cars a bit wider. Miriam and myself had to share a seat. And to say that the two of us are very heavy. Well, we were jammed in to that car! Another couple was squeezed in to the other seat, and they two were pretty much jammed in.Daarna zijn we naar Dinoland U.S.A. gegaan. Hier zitten, hoe kan het ook anders, de Dinosaurussen van het park. Met leuke en minder leuke attracties (zie je ons in een kinderspeeltuin??) We zijn in de Primeval Whirl gegaan. Dat is een soort achtbaan waar de wagentjes ook ronddraaien. Ze hadden deze wagentjes wellicht wat breder mogen maken. Cesco en ik moesten samen in een stoel zitten. En om nu te zeggen dat we enorm dik zijn samen. Nou we zaten geplet in dat wagentje! Er kwam nog een ander stel bij zitten en die waren ook behoorlijk geplet.
And then you haven’t even started! But anyway, scratched and bumped we survived this ride as well. We were NOT impressed.En dan moet je nog gaan rijden! Maar goed, bekrast en ontzettend gebutst kwamen we hier weer uit. Nou was nou niet zo onder de indruk hiervan.
Time for some real action! Very brave and macho we went to Dinosaur (formerly Countdown to Extinction). It is a very wild Jeep Safari back in time to get a special breed of dinosaur to our time. Miriam confessed that she thought it an awful ride. You’re shaken up very much by the (virtual) bumby road. And the roaring of those Dinosaurs was so immensely loud it almost burst your eardrums. Not for Miriam to be honest. At the exit we saw out picture. ROTFLOL! Miriam all ducked down with her hands on her ears and myself?… I was sitting next to that, looking very unimpressed.Tijd voor aktie! Erg stoer en dapper zijn we naar Dinosaur (voorheen Countdown to Extinction) gegaan. Is een ontzettend wilde Jeep Safari terug in de tijd om een bepaald type dinosaurus mee te kunnen nemen. Nou ik kan eerlijk zeggen dat ik dit een vreselijke attractie vond. Je werd helemaal door elkaar geshaked door de (zogenaamd) hobbelige weg. En dan dat brullen van die dinosaurussen zo ontzettend hard dat je trommelvliezen bijna braken. Niets voor mij dus eigenlijk. We zagen nadeehand de foto. Proest! Ik helemaal in elkaar gedoken met mijn handen op mijn oren en Cesco?... Die zat er enorm droog naast, zucht.

At this point we did all the fun things in Animal Kingdom. So we exited the park through the Rainforest Café. We did get a handstamp first. You might need that when you go to a different park later on.Toen hadden we echt al het leuke gedaan in Animal Kingdom. Via het Rainforest café zijn we uit het park gegaan. We kregen wel eerst een handstempel. Die kun je nodig hebben voor als je nog naar een ander park toe gaat.

At the MGM Studio’s it was clearly not as busy as earlier that week, despite the fact that it is weekend now. So what shall we do? We first got a FastPass for the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Then a quick bite to eat and to kill some wait time, a quick visit to the Christmas Shop. They had very nice advent calendars here, but immensely expensive! Miriam quickly made a picture of those, thinking she may be able to make one herself back home. You should see the face of the cast members when you do that.Bij the MGM Studio’s was het niet zo druk als dat het van de week was, ondanks dat het weekend is. Wat gaan we doen? We hebben als eerste een FastPass gehaald voor Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Eerst even een snelle hap gegeten en om de wachttijd iets te doden een snel bezoekje aan de kerstshop gebracht. Ze hadden hier enorm mooie adventkalenders, maar wel vreselijk duur! Ik heb er even een foto van gemaakt, wellicht kan ik het thuis namaken. Je moet dan het gezicht van zo’n verkoopster eens zien.

Anyway, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is a rollercoaster in the dark which (finally!) turns you upside down and makes several loops. The ride is themed around the band Aerosmith. You basically enter their soundstudio and then they are driven off in a hurry by their manager. They have to perform at a concert down town. Before they get in to their Stretched Limo, Steven (Tyler) suggest we tag along and be given backstage passes. We are then led to a Suuuuper Stretched Limo.Maar goed de Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is een achtbaan in het donker die (yes yes yes!) op de kop gaat en diverse loopings maakt. Deze attractie is gemaakt rond de popgroep Aerosmith. Je komt binnen in de soundstudio en ze worden plotseling met veel haast weggehaald door hun manager. Ze moeten een concert geven in de stad. Voordat ze in de Limousine stappen stelt Aerosmith voor om ons allemaal mee te nemen en dat we dan backstage passen krijgen. We gaan in een zeeeeeeeer lange limousine.
The roller coaster cars really are in the form of a stretched limo and we took off at an incredible pace with screaming tires. It was cruel and over way too fast to our likings.De wagentjes van de achtbaan waren ook echt in de vorm van een limousine en met werkelijk een rotgang scheurde we weg. Dit was ontzettend gaaf en naar mijn zin veel te snel weer voorbij.
After this wild ride, time for some peace and quiet… The day’s first showing of Beauty and the Beast began. It is a short compilation of the film, with lots of music.Na deze wilde rit, tijd voor een beetje rust… De eerste show van Belle en het Beest begon. Een korte compilatie van de film met veel muziek.

There is so much to see and do here. That it becomes difficult to make a choice. We went ahead and went in to the Making of the Haunted Mansion. This film will premiere in the USA on November 24th. The story of this movie is based on the Haunted Mansion ride that can be found in all Disney parks. Actually just like the Pirates of the Caribbean is based on the like-named ride.Er is hier zoveel te zien en te doen. Dat het moeilijk is een keuze te maken. We zijn een kijkje gaan nemen bij de Making of the Haunted Mansion. Deze film gaat hier 24 november in premiere. Het verhaal van deze film is gebaseerd op de attractie Haunted Mansion. Net als ook de film van the Pirates of the Caribbean op een attractie is gebaseerd.
Anyway, it is a behind the scenes look at the Haunted Mansion set. We saw amongst other things the lathe ballroom, but also several costumes.It only made us more curious as to the actual movie..Hier was een soort tentoonstelling van de set van deze film (Haunted Mansion). We hebben onder andere de grote balzaal gezien, maar ook wat kostuums. Echt werkelijk zo prachtig. Het heeft me alleen nog maar nieuwsgieriger gemaakt naar deze film.

After that we went to the backlot tour. It took a pretty long time before we were allowed inside. They had experienced a technical difficulty. First we got one of those, stereotypically American style (Hi! I’m Amy, Hi Amy. That type of thing. That very obviously fake Mike ‘Amazing Discoveries’ acting!) Pre-show in which they showed of some special effects. It was now a film set for Pearl Harbor. (Last time it was a different movie!) With some ‘volunteers’ a piece of film was shot. The boat was shot at, there were explosions. At the end we got to see the shots edited in to real footage on the TV screens.We zijn een backlottour gaan maken. Het duurde behoorlijk lang voordat we naar binnen gelaten werden. Er was een technische storing geweest. Je kreeg eerste een soort, typisch American style (hi I’m Amy, Hi Amy. Dat soort dingen dus. Van die Mike ‘Amazing Discovery’ praktijken!) Pre Show waarin wat special effects werden geshowed. Het was een film set van Pearl Harbor. (Vorige keer was het een andere film!) Met wat vrijwilligers werd een stukje film opgenomen. De boot werd beschoten, er waren ontploffingen. Als laatste kregen we de opnames gemonteerd op de tv schermen te zien.

After that we were allowed to the train. We passed by many attributes that had been used in several movies. It was a bit chaotic, but they are building a new set for a stunt show, which meant everything had to huddle together a bit.Daarna mochten we naar het treintje toe. We kwamen langs allerlei attributen die in diverse films zijn gebruikt. Het was een beetje rommelig, maar ze zijn een nieuw stuk aan het bouwen, waardoor alles een beetje moest inschikken.
We also came on to a filmset, where we ended up in a shoot ‘by accident’. An oil-tanker exploded and we were in the middle of a flood. The hilarity of some of the people is almost more fun to watch than the entire train tour.Ook kwamen we op een filmset. Waar we ‘per ongeluk’ in een opname tercht kwamen. Een olietank kwam tot ontploffing en we zaten midden in een overstroming. De hilariteit van sommige mensen, is bijna nog leuker dan die hele treintour.
After the backlot tour we strolled to the main area to find a spot for the parade that was about to begin. We found out on the way that Singing in the Rain was out of order. It is just an umbrella bolted on a lamppost. If you stand on a certain (‘unrecognisable’) tile, water is sprayed from sprinklers above the umbrella. It represents the rain scene from Singing in the Rain and is meant as a photo opportunity. Miriam was sad that it didn’t work.Na deze rondrit zijn we een plekje gaan zoeken voor de parade die bijna van start ging. Ik kwam tot de ontdekking dat Singing-in-the-Rain het niet deed. Dat is een paraplu aan een lantaarnpaal. Als je dan op een bepaalde tegel gaat staan, komt er water uit de sproeiers boven de paraplu. Het stelt de regen scene uit Singing in the Rain voor en is bedoeld als fotostop. Ik vond het echt jammer dat hij het niet deed.

We didn’t have very good spots for the parade. But when you arrive only once the parade already started…We hadden niet al te beste plaatsen voor de parade. Maar ja, als je zo kort voor de parade aan komt zakken…
But then again, we at least saw it without rain as well! There were obviously more characters out now as last week.Maar goed, hebben we hem ook eens gezien zonder regen! Er liepen ook duidelijk meer figuren in de parade mee als van de week.

After the parade we quickly went to the Muppet Show. Again a 4D movie. It is pretty funny, and in true Muppet style, corny jokes and gags. When we left the theater, Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog just arrived. No thanks, no need for us to go on the picture with them, a picture of them will suffice!De parade was voorbij en we zijn snel naar de Muppets show gegaan. Wederom een 4D film. Hij is best grappig en echt op zijn Muppets, van die flauwe mopjes en geintjes. Toen we buiten kwamen, kwamen net Miss Piggy en Kermit de Kikker aangelopen. Nee ik hoef niet met ze op de foto, foto van hen alleen is meer dan genoeg!

By then we had seen everything we wanted to see, so we went for another spin at the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. We could practically walk on, so that was another bit of good luck.Toen hadden we alles gezien wat we wilden zien, dus toch nog maar een keertje naar the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster toe. We konden bijna zo doorlopen, dus dat was weer een meevaller.
Miriam would have liked to ride the Tower of Terror again. But I did not feel like it. So Miriam was out of luck there!Eigenlijk had ik best nog wel een keertje in the Tower of Terror gewild. Maar Cesco had niet zoveel zin. Pech voor mij dus!

We returned to our car to quickly get our vests. And then we walked directly to the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater for the showing of Fantasmic! Despite the fact we had Priority Seating passes earlier this week, we had much better seats in the middle of the theater today. Ideal for making pictures and movie shots.We zijn even terug gelopen naar de auto om onze vesten te gaan halen. Daarna zijn we rechtstreeks doorgelopen naar The Hollywood Hills Amphitheater voor de show Fantasmic! Ondanks dat we van de week priority seating passes hadden, zaten we deze keer op veel betere plaatsen in het midden van het theater. Ideaal voor het maken van foto en film opnames.
We had to wait an hour before the show would start. That is to say, Fantasmic. The wait was a show by itself: People watching… In all shapes and sizes, quite good fun to do.We moesten een uur wachten voordat de show begon. Dat wil zeggen, Fantasmic. Het wachten was op zich al een show op zich: mensen kijken… In allerlei vormen en maten, best leuk om te doen.
Nect to us there was a guy with a little baby (est. a month or 3) on his arm. Half asleep and half awake, and then your heart breaks. Go take that little human to home and put it in his/her crib! But well, it’s probably just us.Naast ons zat een man met een kleine baby (schat maand of 3) op zijn arm. Half slapend half wakker en dan breekt echt je hart. Ga toch lekker met zo’n klein mensje naar huis toe om het daar op zijn/haar bedje te leggen! Maar goed dat zal vast wel weer aan ons liggen.

The show finally began and the wind was much more favourable than last week. Then we were right in the middle of the smoke, remember? We truly enjoyed the lovely music and great pyrotechnics in this show. On thing’s for sure: We have better shots than last week!De show begon, eindelijk, en de wind stond veel gunstiger als van de week. Toen zaten we midden in de rook weet je nog. We hebben echt genoten van de heerlijke muziek en het vuurwerk die in deze show verwerkt zitten. Een ding weet ik zeker: ik heb betere foto’s dan van de week!

From the MGM Studio’s we returned to our room. Quickly read important email: News from the home front. And then on to DownTown Disney. Fisrt to the Christmas Shoppe, wel shop, it’s a pretty large store. If all is well, the Tree ornaments for the kids will be done. It’s good we did that last week already, or otherwise they’d never been finished in time before we depart!Vanuit de MGM studio’s zijn we even terug gegaan naar het hotel. Gauw belangrijke email lezen: nieuws van het thuisfront. En door naar DownTown Disney. Eerst even naar het kerstwinkeltje, nou ja ‘tje’ het is een behoorlijke winkel. Als het goed is zijn de kerstballen voor de kids klaar. Het is maar goed dat we dat van de week al gedaan hebben, anders waren ze nooit meer op tijd klaar geweest voor ons vertrek!
After a wait we were able to admire them. They were truly magnificent. Miriam had been afraid for Geordi’s. That despite our explicit ‘G’-guidelines this still went wrong. But fortunately that fear was unfounded. The G was Gorgeous!Na even gewacht te hebben konden we ze bewonderen. Ze waren echt schitterend. Ik was bang geweest voor die van Geordi. Dat het ondanks onze ‘G’-instructies toch verkeerd gegaan zou zijn. Nou gelukkig was deze angst geheel onterecht. De G was prachtig!
We also wanted to visit the PinTraders. I had a live one!!! A woman was willing to trade the Mickey with Soldier with me. She could however find nothing that appealed to her and then suggested to trade it for 2 normal rack pins. Our guideline is however one for one trading, so no deal.Ook wilden we even bij de pintraders kijken. Cesco had beet!!! Een vrouw had vor hem de Mickey met soldaat en wilde wel ruilen. Ze kon echter niet vinden wat ze leuk vond en stelde voor om dan 2 mindere pinnetje uit te kiezen. Onze afspraak is echter één op één ruilen, dus dat ging niet door.
I saw the same pin with another guy. He honestly told us he had gotten it himself for 2 pins. So he would want 2 pins in return. I explained him about my one for one guideline. And he fully agreed.Bij een andere man zag hij ook diezelfde pin. Die zei eerlijk dat hij hem zelf heeft verkregen door 2 van zijn pinnen te ruilen. Dus hij wilde hem ook ruilen voor 2 pinnen. Cesco legde hem uit dat hij een standpunt heeft van één op één. Hij snapte het volkomen.
A new Tinkerbell pin was released today. Miriam went in to the shop to have a look when I entered the shop searching for her. There had been a woman (pintrader) that had been here all week and knew that I wanted the soldier pin. Someone else had that pin, and she had one he really wanted very much. Especially for me she traded the pin and kept it, hoping that I’d be there this evening. See, she is leaving for home tomorrow. She really wanted the new Figment (the character from Epcot) pin, but it was only available in Epcot. She was a bit disappointed, but still wanted to trade the pin with me. So she proposed exchanging it for the new Tinkerbell. Great deal! We told her a true-felt thank you for taking the effort and being considerate for saving that pin for me. She told us that she could tell that that pin was very special to me, and I would have to be very careful with it. Don’t fear about that. At the hotel I’ll immediately put on a pin-saver!Er was een nieuwe TinkerBell pin uitgekomen vandaag. Ik ben in de shop even gaan kijken toen Cesco opgewonden de winkel binnenkwam. Er was de hele week een vrouw hier en ze wist dat Cesco de soldaat pin zocht. Iemand anders had deze pin en zij had een pin die diegene graag hebben wilden. Speciaal voor Cesco had ze deze pin geruild en bewaard in de hoop dat hij vandaag zou komen. Ze gaat namelijk morgen terug naar huis. Ze zocht eigenlijk de nieuwe Pin van Figment (character uit Epcot), maar die was alleen in Epcot zelf te verkrijgen. Dat vond ze jammer maar ze wilde toch graag de pin met Cesco ruilen. Ze stelde voor dat ze ruilde voor de nieuwe TinkerBell. Prima deal! We hebben haar echt heel hartelijk bedankt voor de moeite en de hartelijkheid dat ze deze pin voor Cesco bewaard had. Ze zei ons ook, dat ze aan hem kon zien en merken dat deze pin voor hem veel betekenis had en hij moest er maar heel zuinig op zijn. Nou dat zit wel goed. In het hotel gaat er een slotje op de achterkant!

We also dropped in at DisneyQuest. Because of our special passes, we can enter there for free as well. It’s basically a very large game hall. Where you can play and participate in computer games. Miriam and myself did a virtual Jungle Cruise together. On a kind of inflatable raft you have to paddle like crazy to get somewhere. Ahem, that did not go to well! We also made a trip on Aladdin’s flying carpet. Miriam did not understand much of it, but we both enjoyed it!We zijn nog een kijkje gaan nemen bij Disney Quest. Door onze speciale toegangskaarten, kunnen we ook hier naar binnen. Een grote spelcomputerhal is dit, waar je deel kan nemen aan allerlei computergames. Cesco en ik hebben samen een computer jungle cruise gemaakt. Op en soort opblaasmatras moest je jezelf de pletter peddelen om ergens te komen. Kuch,kuch, ging niet echt lekker! We hebben nog een ritje gemakt op het vliegend tapijt van Aladdin. Ik snapte er weinig van, maar het was wel enorm leuk!
DisneyQuest is not something we would normally spend $ 34 on to be able to play some computer games. We did not stay very long.Disney Quest is nu niet iets waar we normaal gesproken $34,- voor neer zouden tellen om hier wat computer spelletjes te mogen doen. We zijn ook niet zo lang gebleven.
In our hotel room I finished another translation and subsequently Miriam finished the report of the day before yesterday. In de hotelkamer heeft Cesco weer een nieuwe vertaling afgemaakt en ik heb vervolgens het verslag van eergisteren afgemaakt.

Tired but satisfied we crawled in to bed…Moe maar zeer voldaan lekker ons bedje ingekropen…
