11/09/2003: "Sunday, 9 November 2003Zondag 9 November"

This morning the alarm rang at 7 o'clock. Yep, pretty early for a vacation, but one wants to do as much as possible.
Researched a few things before we left and then to breakfast. We hade forgotten that Sunday is Character Breakfast in the restaurant, so we quickly returned to the room to get our camera.Vanmorgen liep het wekkertje weer om zeven uur af. Ja best vroeg voor een vakantie, maar je wilt zoveel mogelijk doen.
Nog van te voren wat dingetjes uitgezocht en we zijn gaan ontbijten. We waren vergeten dat op Zondag Character Breakfast was in het restaurant, dus zijn we even snel terug gegaan naar onze kamer om een camera te halen.

Nancy was there today as well and she told as that she'd keep her fingers crossed regarding our stay at the hotel. But she was very understanding about the possibility that we could pack our suitcases and go.
During breakfast Goofy, Minnie and Pluto came by. Of course we made some pictures.Nancy was er ook weer vandaag en ze vertelde dat ze haar vingers gekruist hield dat we blijven in het hotel. Maar ze begrijpt ook heel goed als we besluiten onze koffers te pakken.
Tijdens het ontbijt kwamen Goofy, Minnie en Pluto langs. Natuurlijk een paar foto's van gemaakt.

When we returned to our room, there was already a message from Sandy Weaver (Wyndham ByRequest Manager). She met us halfway, as it is called. We'll get vouchers for 7 days of breakfast, and the rest we'd need to pay ourselves. It sounded reasonable, so we're staying in this hotel.
We shortly returned to Nancy to tell her the news. She collects Disney Pins, and to make the appreciation show in a special manner, we purchased a Mickey Thumbs-Up pin in the Hotel shop. She just deserved that. She was clearly very delighted! It is a bigger compliment than just a considerable gratuity. This is directly from the hart.Toen we terug kwamen op de kamer bleek er al een bericht te zijn van Sandy Weaver (Wyndham ByRequest Manager). Ze kwam ons in het midden tegemoet, zoals dat dan heet. We krijgen voor 7 dagen ontbijt en de rest moeten we dan zelf betalen. Dat klinkt erg redelijk dus we blijven in dit hotel.
We zijn nog even terug gegaan naar Nancy om het nieuws te vertellen. Ze spaart Disney pinnetjes en om haar speciaal te bedanken hebben we voor haar in het hotel winkeltje een Mickey opgestoken duimen gekocht. Die had ze gewoon verdient. Ze was er ook zichtbaar heel erg blij mee! Het is een groter compliment dan een fikse fooi geven. Dit komt rechtstreeks uit het hart.

Yesterday we never got round to buying a few bottles of soda. So today we would have to go find some. We first went to the Publix to do some grocerie shopping. In the same neighborhood there is a Wallmart Superstore. That is a large supermarket chain. We spent quite some time there. Miriam and myself each got a very nice fleece Mickey sweater. For Samantha a Christmas dress and for Geordi a dressed set consisting of smart pants, blouse, vest and clip-on tie. Will those two be pretty over the Holidays or what!
There also is a large arts and crafts department. Miriam could browse to her heart's delight. We'll be going back before we leave!Gisteren zijn we niet echt meer aan toe gekomen om flesjes frisdrank te halen. Dus dan vandaag toch eerst even wat opzoeken. We zijn eerst naar de Publix geweest om boodschappen te doen. In de buurt daar zit ook een grote Wallmart Superstore. Een groot supermarkt keten. Hier hebben we wel eventjes rondgelopen. Cesco en ik hebben alletwee een leuke Mickey fleece trui gekocht.
Voor Samantha een kerstjurk en voor Geordi een nette broek met blouse, stropdas en gilet. Zullen die twee er netjes uitzien met kerst!
Er was ook een hele hobby afdeling. Mjammjam ik kon even mijn hart ophalen. Ik kom hier nog wel een keertje terug voor vertrek!

After the groceries we first brought everything to the Hotel. Subsequently we went to the Magic Kingdom. We decided to take the Hotel Shuttle. This transportation service is not run by Disney. We got on the bus and went to a few of the other hotels on the Disney grounds. He asked what hotel we needed to go to. The bus we were in was being taken out of service. He ensured that there was another bus for us, which appeared to be trailing our bus. Unfortunately we got in to the bus of the most grumpy driver on Disney property!
We were dropped off at the TTC. There we took the express monorail to the Magic Kingdom.
Unfortunately we just missed the afternoon parade, so better luck next time...
We first went to city hall with a few questions. We had to cancel the Ice Cream Social. We were planning on doing that tomorrow, but we were also going to the Fantasmic! Dinner package. A little bit overkill.
At the same time we reserved a Character Breakfast at Ohana's in one of the resorts. We purchased a Florida Fun in the SUn ticket before departure. That includes a character breakfast. And as Dutch as we are... We of course have to use those.Na de boodschappen eerst even alles terug brengen naar het hotel toe. Om vervolgens naar het Magic Kingdom te gaan. We kozen ervoor om met de shuttle bus van het hotel te gaan. Deze busdienst valt niet onder Disney. We stapten in de bus en we gingen eerst nog langs wat andere hotels die ook op het Disneyterrein staan. Halverwege vroeg de chauffeur naar welk hotel we moesten. Nou we willen naar het Magic Kingdom. Hij vroeg of we weer terug gingen. Wat bleek de bus chauffeur zijn dienst zat erop. Hij regelde netjes een andere bus voor ons, die achter ons reed. We stapte in de bus van de meest grote sjagerijnige chauffeur!
We werden afgezet bij het transportation center. Daar namen we de monorail naar Magic Kingdom.
Helaas hebben we de middagparade gemist, ander keertje dan maar…
We zijn eerst met wat vragen naar Cityhall gegaan. We moesten de Ice Cream Social reservering laten schieten. Dat zouden we morgen gaan doen, maar we gaan ook naar het Fantasmic! Dinner buffet. Een beetje teveel dus.
Gelijk gereserveerd voor een Character Breakfast in Ohana in een van de resorts. We hebben voor vertrek een Florida Fun in the Sun pass gekocht. En daar zaten vouchers bij voor het ontbijt. En zo Hollands als we zijn... maken we daar natuurlijk gebruik van.

We wanted to have a Mickey Ears-hat embroidered for Geordi and Samantha. That is slightly different than a piece of cloth in an embroidery ring! This is being done manually at high speed. Samantha's is really very nice. Geordi's has to grow on us, as Americans write the capital G completely different than us Europeans are used to. Nothing to be done there. It is still quite nice though!We wilden voor Geordi en Samantha een Mickey Ears-petje laten borduren. Is wel even iets anders als inspannen op een borduurraam! Dit wordt razendsnel met de handgestikt. Die van Samantha is heel erg mooi. Die van Geordi vind ik wennen, de Amerikanen hier schrijven de letter G heel anders dan we gewent zijn. Niets aan te doen. Maar hij is best leuk hoor!

The main entrance of the castle is roped off and we had to walk around it. We went in to Fantasyland. We made a quick visit to Itá a Small World and then to the Haunted Mansion. After that it was time to find an eatery. We wanted to see the fireworks againg today, from a better location.
We had hamburgers and fries. You can put the toppings on yourself. There is a wide choice of toppings, such as mushrooms, onions, sauerkraut, pickles, etc...
It was very good!De doorgang van het kasteel is afgesloten en je moet omlopen. We liepen Fantasyland in. We zijn even in It's a Small World geweest en in Haunted Mansion (spookhuis) geweest. Daarna was het tijd om een eetgelegenheid te zoeken. We wilden vandaag het vuurwerk nogmaals van een betere lokatie zien.
We hebben een hamburger met frites gegeten. Je mag er dan zelf je hamburger aankleden. Je hebt keuze uit allerlei verse ingrenienten zoals champignons, uien, zuurkool, augurk, enz…
Was heel erg lekker!

After dinner we staked a claim for a nice viewing spot for the fireworks. We were right in front of the castle center. And yes, that was a very good spot!
Still Miriam suffered some frustration, as she was ready to make a nice picture of Tinkerbell, when she apparently was struck from today's performance!!! Ah well, a good excuse to return yet again...
The fireworks are really great. This pyrotechnic display is very new and is a big improvement. There is somewhat of a story now. And this in comparison with 'the past', when there were just a lot of fireworks ignited in synch with some music, and that was it. This was really nice to see. You do however have to be in front of the castle, or otherwise the show will not be enjoyed to it's full potential!Na het eten een goed plekje gezocht voor het vuurwerk. We stonden midden voor het kasteel. En ja dit was en zeer goede plek.
Wel een frustratie hoor, klaar staan om een foto van TinkerBell te gaan maken, is ze vandaag uit de voorstelling geschrapt!!! Maar goed, hebben we een goed excuus om weer terug te gaan…
Het vuurwerk is echt ontzettend mooi. Deze vuurwerkshow is pas nieuw en is echt een hele verbetering. Er zit nu een soort verhaal in. En dat in vergelijking van ' vroeger' dan werd er wat vuurpijlen afgestoken en dat was het dan wel. Dit was echt leuk om te zien. Alleen je moet wel voor het kasteel staan, anders komt het niet goed tot zijn recht.

We each purchased a greeting card for Geordi and Samantha to send to them. These were the animated types. The ones that show different scenes as you tilt them. For Samantha we had one of the princesses, and for Gerodi we had Mickey as the Sorcerer's apprentice. In city hall we purchased stamps and then we put them in the mailbox on Main Street.
With the monorail back to the TTC. The bus was busy, and we had to stand. Miriam was very tired after tonight and was very happy to be back in the hotel. Miriam went to bed and I translated the first day of the reports, and put it on the web.
It is progressing steadily, but we 'only' have a single computer, which we have to share!We hebben voor Geordi en Samantha elk een kaart gekocht om naar ze op te sturen. Zo eentje die beweegt als je hem alle kanten ophoud. Voor Samantha eentje van de Prinsessen en voor Geordi eentje met Mickey als tovenaarsleerling. In CityHall postzegels gehaald om ze vervolgens in de brievenbus te kunnen doen.
Met de monorail terug naar de verzamelplaats van de bussen. Het was druk in de bus en we moesten staan. Ik was ontzettend moe na vanavond en was blij weer terug te zijn in het hotel. Ik ben mijn bedje ingegaan en Cesco heeft de eerste dag van het reisverslag vertaald en op het web gezet.
Het gaat gestaag, maar we hebben 'slechts' één computer waarmee we het moeten doen!
